Graston Technique

Graston Technique is a type of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that allows us to address restrictions in mobility of scar tissue, muscles and fascia to normalize range of motion, decrease pain, restore function and improve patient outcomes.  Graston tools consist of a series of stainless steel instruments with different contours designed to optimally treat various body areas, while utilizing a variety of stroking patterns depending on the desired outcome.  Graston Technique is designed to break down adhesions and scar tissue in skin, muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons; thereby improving range of motion, pain and function. Normally, collagen fibers are aligned linearly and in an orderly fashion, however after injury or long standing inflammation they become disrupted, laying new tissue in a disorganized manner. Graston tools are designed to help realign those collagen fibers to restore normal tissue mobility, appearance and function.

At COR, we find that using Graston tools helps decrease our patients’ recovery time by speeding up the healing process and quickly improving symptoms whether the injury is acute, chronic or post-operative.
